We first met Lyndsey when my husband had a birthday cake made for me in 2015 & it was great. April 2017 we met with her with notes and a sketch of what the geode cake should look like for our wedding (6 December) & agreed it would have a geode zig-zagging throughout the cake & it would be in the style of citrine (transparent tones to yellow/orange). Lyndsey had a geode cake in her window & while we were altering ours with different colour & a slimmer geode, we thought this was a good representation of her work. We agreed to supply our own ribbon for the cake nearer the time. She was helpful throughout this time & when visiting to pay up our cake, we always bought something for ourselves or family members & even had cupcakes made for a baby shower. We reviewed her on Fb & shared her material with others.Near to the wedding I got the ribbon for the cake but found out over Fb that she was moving from Kilsyth-Falkirk. Unsure how to get the ribbon to her, I contacted her on Fb messenger 29Nov. I received no response & contacted her again 3Dec (3 days before wedding) on Fb & Insta. She responded saying that she'd pick it up from us the morning the day before our wedding. I told her we'd be leaving at 2pm & waited for her. She did not show. We had to leave so we left the ribbon with our florist & asked her to pick it up from there. She replied telling me to tell the florist to drop the ribbon at the venue but our florist was not dropping anything off, so we had to sort this ourselves. The groom had to travel back to the florist in Kilsyth in the midst of day-before plans to pick up the ribbon. A groomsman had to drive from Bathgate-Falkirk on the wedding morning to post the ribbon through railings of her shop which was not yet signposted. It caused unnecessary stress the day before/morning of the wedding but we got on with it & were still excited for our cake. The disorganisation should have been a red flag as our cake was not what we asked for. The geode was yellow but rather than crystal-like, it was a luminous ugly mass of yellow & rather than a zig-zagging crack, she cut an awkward almost straight blob. Several guests had seen her work as we endorsed her & some had seen the geode cake in her window yet guests either had NO idea what it was or were disappointed as they knew it was not what we wanted. We chose citrine as it's a crystal we had an emotional attachment to prior to our wedding. We even gifted Lyndsey a piece of citrine when discussing the cake, both as a gesture & to give her an idea of what we wanted. So we were devastated that something we put love into was handled with such little care by someone whos business we supported & that we spent 600 on it.We contacted Lyndsey to express our disappointment & although she was "sad to hear" it, she stated that we basically got what we asked for. Regardless of what we asked for, which was not what got, it should have been obvious to her the cake was ugly. She should have fixed it or considered taking a different direction if it was too difficult for her and we would have been happy to help her decide on another idea. We also noted the cake was wonky which she blamed on the venue for putting tissue paper under the cake stand. We're still unsure how valid that is but from photos taken it looks as though the cake was wonky, not the stand. Lyndsey accepted no fault & ignored my next 5 messages (13Dec/19Dec/12Jan/27Jan/4June).Getting some money back would've been nice but as loyal customers we at least deserved a heartfelt apology for letting us down. Reviews are no longer available on her Facebook which is sad as it's important for people to express disappointment over something they've paid for and to warn others. We didnt want to do that initially and instead contacted Lyndsey directly and respectfully. I wouldnt be writing this if a year on we had better responses from her. She has no empathy for the embarrassment of having it displayed at our wedding & having a chunk of photos we don't even look at as a result. I hope others think twice before choosing her.

I would do a zero star rating if I could as Lyndsey let us down at last minute with our wedding cake and kept the deposit. All negative reviews (mine and others) were removed from her Facebook page and she claimed we changed our mind on the cake design. The company name was changed and I had to 'find' her again and ask about our order. She has no recollection of the date, venue, design etc and had written the details on a scrap piece of paper. Personal issues were stated and appear to be the reason stated to others over the past couple of years which is a real shame when customers don't receive their orders or their money back. 100 deposit pocketed and not even an apology or anything else offered. Definitely would not recommend Lyndsey to make a cake for this reason.

Delicious cake
